Blanche Podhajski, Ph.D.

Dr. Blanche Podhajski was the President and Founder of the Stern Center for Language and Learning in Williston, Vermont until her retirement in February 2021 after 38 years at the helm. She also served as a clinical associate professor of neurological sciences at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine.

Dr. Podhajski established the Center in 1983 to provide evaluation and instruction services to students; professional development to teachers, parents and medical professionals; and research on behalf of all kinds of learners. Thanks to her vision, the Stern Center has become a renowned learning resource nationally.

With over forty years experience in the areas of language and learning, Blanche teaches and consults with educators throughout the country and is a frequent presenter at regional and national conferences. She is the co-author of Sounds Abound and BUILDING BLOCKS FOR LITERACY®. Blanche is also the lead author of the Comprehensive Reading Course for Educators produced by MindPlay, a 3 credit online graduate course focusing on the science of reading.
